Social media assistant for Working Traveller (Lviv)


One or two new work posting a week comes on to the site. You need to create a blog post for each one, mention a bit about where it is located, make is sound as interesting as you can and then share the blog post across SM. Depending what the work is, depends on where you share it. If its looking for volunteers for a music festival, you need to post it in every music volunteer face book group you can join.

Monitoring facebook groups. Every day you check the 100s of groups you have joined and look for the “ I am looking for work in…..” posts. You answer with “ Hi, your looking for hostel work in x, we have 4 hostels looking for a helper there, see the link here”

Cleaning up host profiles. We need to pick off one country at a time that need people now. So we start Thailand and contact all the hosts and ask them to update their work posting etc as we are doing a big push to half a million travellers etc etc. So country campaigns are an ongoing thing, the idea is to focus on one new country a week.

Answering email inquiries. We get maybe 10 emails a week asking for work or help. Its good to get back to these emails to grow our communication with our users.

Work post of the week and Traveller of the week. Each week we feature a new work posting as a small ad on the site as well as interesting travellers looking for work. This only takes an hour or so but needs doing every week.

Building relationships with Travel Bloggers. WT is a great story for travel bloggers — we just need to let them know about us. Most will ask for payment to have a guest post, so we need to look at doing guest post swaps and show them that articals on “ How to find work as you travel” get more views than any other blog posts. Even if they don’t write about us, its good for them to know about us as they may mention us when they do finally write about work and travel.

There will be a few other things you will need to do like SEO content production, plus your own ideas that you will try out. The ones that work – we add to your weekly tasks.


Working Traveller is looking for an ambitious individual who’s passion for digital marketing will motivate them and insure they push the boundaries using SM to take our user base from 50,000 to 1m users in 2017. Following requirements are listed below.

You must be able to write good English & Russian ( large following on How you speak does not matter. All about how you write in English as you will be writing in English most of the time when communicating with travellers and hosts.

Good understanding of all main social media platforms. Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter. Bloggging, VK etc. Not just from a user point of view but from a marketing point of view. You need to know each platforms strengths and how to use those strengths to market to our target audience.

Understanding of SM tools like Hootsuit and how to track effectiveness of a campaign so you can quickly learn how to improve the sign up rates on the next campaign.

You need to be able to work from Monday to Friday from 10.00am to 6.00pm for at least one month and then can work remotly.

You need to ideally have a passion for travel and can relate to the international millennial mind set of travellers on their Gap Year. So you should be familiar with communities like Travel Buddy, Hostel World, Couch Surfing, Woofing, Work Away, Helpx and travel bloggers like Nomadic Matt. If you don’t know these sites, make sure you have looked at ALL of them before your interview 😉

A degree is not required. If you do not have one, it makes no difference to me. What I need is someone who can do the job and has the passion and some experience in SM marketing. If you studied marketing, it may help you but it is not essential for this role as what we are doing — no one teaches you in university 🙂


  • The job is 10.00am – 6.00pm Monday to Friday. You will be trained on how to achieve your tasks each week and will be able to ask for help with new things. But this is not university, I am not your professor, you are here to work, not to just learn.
  • You are provided a desk at the iHub in Lviv and will work with the rest of the Lviv WT team. You will need your own Laptop to work from to begin with.
  • Monthly salary depending on experience.
